Our mission

The main mission is to influence the public in Serbia, in order to create democratic, pluralist society, where the equality among people in their societies can be achieved. That can be achieved with promotion of European values in Serbia as well as with support of the process. European Movement starts its mission primarily by respecting the human values, freedom, rights and the rule of law, as well as all other civilized values on which the Council of Europe was founded. In cooperation with people who approve and support this determination, EM works on constructing political and other conditions for entering Serbia into European Union.

That follows improving ties with European countries, especially with countries in the region.

The objectives of the European Movement are
  • Promoting understanding, mutual knowledge and cooperation of people, communities, regions and countries in the European space and support a comprehensive and free communication between them, primarily in the areas of culture, cultural and historical heritage, media, science, environmental protection, gender equality, economy and politics;
  • Spreading the idea of European unity in Serbia and improving cultural, political and economic cooperation among citizens, people, regions and countries in Europe as a european contribution to peace and prosperity in the world with the aim of creating a european federation.
  • The democratic, federal Europe, based on the rule of right and social justice, capable of protecting and developing human rights;
  • Influencing the public of Serbia to direct their engagement towards democratic activities in a multi-party system country towards realising equality among people and their communities, along with respecting and improving the standards adopted in Europe. In order to implement these goals, the activities of the European Movement should imply acting;
  • In favour of the idea of justice, and against any shape of violence as well as against the ideologies based on instigating violence;
  • In favour of respecting human dignity and against the violation of human rights;
  • In favour of freedom of the citizen aware of his/her responsibilities in the democratic order, and against totalitarianism and autocracy;
  • In favour of the order of peace and democratisation in Europe, and against war mongering and armaments;
  • In favour of Europe as responsible in the field of environmental protection.
  • In favour of Europe as a unity of varieties
